PROGRAMME OFFICER VACANCY IN ECOWAS COMMISSION
The Council of Ministers of the Economic Community of West Africa States, ECOWAS, established within the ECOWAS Commission, a Small Arms Unit with the mandate to monitor and coordinate the implementation of the 1998 ECOWAS Moratorium on the importance, Exportation and Manufacture of Light Weapons, which has been transformed into the ECOWAS Convention on Small Arms and Light Weapons, their Ammunition and Other Related Materials in June 2006.The ECOWAS Commission is seeking to recruit highly qualified candidate for the following vacancy.

Supervisor : Head of the Small arms Unit
Duty Post : Abuja, Nigeria
Vacancy Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Small Arms Unit, the Programme Officer,
and Small Arms, will:
- Assist in coordinating and following up Member State activities, especially through their National Commissions on Small Arms and Light Weapons ;
- Assist in developing and maintaining regular contact with relevant CSOs and NGOs working in the field of Small Arms Unit and Light Weapons ;
- Assist in gathering and disseminating information regarding the problems of Small Arms and Light Weapons in the sub-region ;
- Preparing all relevant reports of activities relating to the implementation of the Moratorium/Convention ;
Vacancy Qualification
- A bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences preferably in Sociology/Political Science/International Relations/Security Studies or Related fields ECOWAS
- At least five years cognate experience in Nigeria, Regional, or International Organizations ;
- Knowledge of the ECOWAS policy and operational framework for controlling the proliferation and trafficking in Small Arms Unit and Light Weapons may be an added advantage ;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft words/office tools
